At Scandic we think that food is more than a matter of taste. We want to make sure that what we serve comes from a sound source.
We feel it's important to give our guests a delicious experience without animals and nature having to suffer. We want all our hotels to serve good food that is produced in a healthy manner. We have come quite a long way in this respect and continue to make progress. Good food naturally has to be available to everyone. That's why we always offer gluten-free bread and lactose-free milk, for example.
Organic breakfast
Serving an organic breakfast at our hotels is nothing new. We started back in 2001. Today, you'll find at least 10 organic products on our breakfast buffet – everything from bread and cheese to yoghurt and muesli. These organic products help to promote pesticide-free farming and good animal welfare.
Climate labelling of food
What is best: a tomato from southern Spain that has grown outdoors or a Swedish tomato from a greenhouse? We know that transportation causes carbon emissions, which affect the climate, but at the moment we lack a clear understanding of the bigger picture. At Scandic we're following the research and debate on climate-labelled food so that we can offer food that is healthy for both you and the environment.
Respect your coffee
We feel that coffee should taste good and do good. That's why every cup of filter coffee, espresso and cappuccino that you drink at Scandic in the Nordic region is Fairtrade or UTZ labelled. Fairtrade guarantees a minimum price for the coffee and gives the growers more money. The growers also receive a premium to use locally, for example on schools and healthcare. UTZ guarantees that the coffee is grown with social and environmental responsibility, and the coffee can always be traced to a country and grower.
